An Earth Day 2015 Primer on Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Climate Change

Walker ‘Makes a Compelling Case for Worst Governor in America on Climate Change’

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has been making news on climate change recently with lawsuits, gag orders and an appointee to regulate state utilities who said a volcanic eruption would produce more greenhouse gas than all the automobiles in the world.

But hostility to alternative energy and initiatives to address climate change are nothing new for Walker. In fact Gov. Walker’s abysmal track record on climate change spans the years from when he first signed the Koch brothers’ climate change pledge while still Milwaukee County Executive right on through today, Earth Day 2015, when his Department of Natural Resource sent out layoff notices to 57 employees, including 27 in the Bureau of Science.

One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross commented, “By putting allegiance to the billionaire Koch brothers’ bottom line before our environment nearly a decade ago to today’s layoffs notices to more than two dozen state scientists due to his budget cuts, Scott Walker makes a compelling case for worst governor in America on climate change.”
