WMC Scrubs Controversial Graphic Attacking Pay Equity From Website

Fairness a Value for All of Us, Not Just Men and CEOs

MADISON, Wis. — At a press conference yesterday elected officials and community leaders called out the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce (WMC) for a solicitation for corporate funding for a propaganda campaign attacking pay equity supporters as radical and anti-business. Less than 24 hours later, it appears WMC has scrubbed their website and taken down their graphic insulting supporters of equal pay.

The following are the statements of One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross:

“It’s going to take more than scrubbing their website to make up for lobbying for the repeal of the Equal Pay Enforcement Act and spending millions of dollars to promote and protect the politicians that did their bidding like Gov. Scott Walker.

“A good place to start would be reprimanding their top lobbyist, who lashed out yesterday at supporters of equal pay with personal attacks and unfounded accusations.

“Even better would be to admit they are wrong to oppose laws to help ensure that men and women get paid the same for doing the same work and that hold bad actors accountable.

“WMC needs to recognize that fairness is a basic American value for all of us, not just men or corporate CEOs.”
