Scott Walker’s RGA to Spend Scott Walker’s Steve Wynn Money for Scott Walker
‘All the Money in World Can’t Polish Scott Walker’s Atrocious Record for Women’
MADISON, Wis. — The Republican Governors Association, where Gov. Scott Walker served as 2016-17 chair and currently serves on the Executive Committee, has announced it will spend another $5 million for Walker this year. As chair of RGA, Walker raised $250,000 from Steve Wynn, the casino magnate who has been accused of repeated instances of sexual assault and misconduct.
“Scott Walker’s RGA will take the $250,000 Scott Walker raised from Steve Wynn for the RGA and spend it to defend Scott Walker’s aggressively anti-women record,” said Analiese Eicher, One Wisconsin Now Program Director. “All the money in the world from Republican Steve Wynn can’t polish Scott Walker’s atrocious record for women.”
A One Wisconsin Now review of Internal Revenue Service records shows that while Chair of the Republican Governors Association (RGA), Walker took $250,000 from Wynn for the RGA on December 8, 2016. In addition, IRS records show Walker got $5,000 from Wynn personally for the 527 organization Our American Revival on April 10, 2015. Walker’s team said previously he would donate $5,000 to charity, but refused to address Walker’s $250,000 contribution from Wynn.
Walker has received $15 million from the RGA in his three campaigns for governor, including the recall. In the most recent campaign finance reporting period, the RGA’s Right Direction Wisconsin PAC shipped $86,000 to Walker and $12,000 to the Republican Party of Wisconsin.
