One Wisconsin Now Demands ‘Pick One, Paul’
Ryan's Personal 'Taxpayer-Financed Job Security Plan' Unprecedented in Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. — One Wisconsin Now is demanding newly-minted Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan “pick one” when it comes to running for election on the national ticket and for re-election to Congress at the same time. Multi-millionaire Ryan, whose budget scheme would essentially end Medicare as we know it while giving massive tax breaks to billionaires and corporations, is engaging in “serial hypocrisy” by collecting a taxpayer-financed Congressional salary more than three times the average Wisconsin income, while campaigning for not one, but two federal offices.
“Wisconsin is demanding ‘Pick One, Paul,’” said Scot Ross, One Wisconsin Now Executive Director. “Taxpayers shouldn’t have to foot the bill for Paul Ryan’s personal job security scheme.”
Ryan was tapped as Romney’s running mate over the weekend and is spending his first workday on the presidential trail in Iowa.
“Paul Ryan may have a preternatural phobia about the private sector,” said Ross. “But with his congressional district having cities with the highest unemployment in Wisconsin, he owes them more than being his consolation prize if Mitt Romney doesn’t win in November.”
