McCain Debates Self on His Knowledge of Economy

This morning John McCain tried to get a do-over regarding his admission that he doesn’€™t know much about economics. While appearing in an interview on ABC this morning, McCain interrupted the interviewer after she referred to his admission. McCain responded saying that he never said that he didn’€™t know much about economics and that actually, ‘€œI’€™m very strong on the economy. I understand it.’€ McCain may wish that he didn’€™t repeatedly talk about his lack of understanding on economics but he can’€™t change that fact now. Here is a reminder of some of his admissions:

‘€œThe issue of economics is not something I’€™ve understood as well as I should,’€ McCain said. ‘€œI’€™ve got Greenspan’€™s book.’€

‘€œI know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated.’€

One of McCain’€™s top advisors admitted that McCain has said he knows little about the economy, noting that ‘€œhe did say it one time, no question, maybe twice.’€
