Desperate Scott Walker Goes Negative Weeks Before Democratic Primary to Pick His General Election Opponent

With Sagging Poll Numbers Career Politician Dispatches Republican Party to Run Negative Ads

MADISON, Wis. — In the latest sign of the extreme desperation of career politician Scott Walker to hang on to his government paycheck, the state Republican Party he controls has begun running negative ads against a number of potential Democratic opponents. The state political news service WisPolitics.com this morning reported the Republican Party of Wisconsin is hitting the radio airwaves with ads attacking four Democrats seeking their party’s gubernatorial nomination in the August 14 primary election.

“The only thing Scott Walker is for is keeping Scott Walker in the only career he’s ever had,” said One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross. “Scott Walker is a desperate man, staring down the end of his quarter century in office. There’s nothing he won’t do in the coming months to try to change his sagging political fortunes, including lashing out with negative ads before he even has a general election opponent.”

Ross noted Walker’s going negative comes on the heels of two polls from respected sources both finding Walker’s job approval low and electoral prospects grim. The lackluster results for Walker come despite his campaign already spending millions on numerous TV ads promoting himself, much of which ran before his prospective opponents’ campaigns began running their own ads in recent days.

He concluded, “The recent polls show the people of Wisconsin know Scott Walker has failed them. He’s been more focused on his own political ambitions than taking care of our concerns, and no amount of negative attack ads run by Scott Walker and his gang are going to change that.”
