MADISON, Wis. — One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross released the following statements regarding the upcoming decision of Gov. Walker whether or not to take billions of dollars in federal assistance to expand health care coverage to 170,000 currently uninsured Wisconsinites:
“The stunning depravity to even consider building the foundation of a presidential campaign on the backs of uninsured children is matched only by the seemingly limitless political ambition of Gov. Walker.
“Two years ago Gov. Walker used public tax dollars to fund a lawsuit to protect insurance company profits, opposing reforms that prevent insurance companies from denying people coverage for pre-existing conditions or dropping coverage when you get sick.
“Today, with a 2016 presidential run at the fore of his mind, Gov. Walker is again poised to leave thousands of children and families who lack health insurance out in the cold, turning back billions of dollars of federal aid to help expand access to health care in Wisconsin.”
