One Wisconsin Now Statements on Republican Voter Assault Bill

MADISON, Wis. — One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross released the following statements regarding legislation being circulated by Rep. Jeff Stone (R-Greendale) that systematically attacks voter rights in ways no other single piece of legislation has in the history of the state of Wisconsin.

“This Republican bill is the single largest assault on voter rights our state has ever seen. That it is being circulated hours before the long Memorial Day weekend shows how devious the intentions of its author are. Voter rights are sacred rights and this attack on voting in Wisconsin is undemocratic and un-American. If Jeff Stone thinks he will steal away the sacred right of the franchise for the partisan gain of his party without the people rising up and fighting him every step of the way he doesn’t understand the indomitable spirit of the people of Wisconsin.

“As the nation prepares this weekend to honor the men and women of our armed forces who have fought and died to protect our rights, including the right to vote, Jeff Stone has brought disgrace on both his political party and all of Wisconsin.”
