Trump Visit Has WISGOP Crying Crocodile Tears for Sacred Cow Paul Ryan

‘Given GOP Record In WI Against Women, Minorities, LGBTQ, Poor People, It’s Not What Trump Has Said, It’s What He Won’t Say That Has WISGOP in Arms’

MADISON, Wis. — Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump visits Wisconsin today, but top state Republicans like Gov. Walker, Sen. Ron Johnson and Assembly Speaker Robin Vos will be nowhere to be found at the event, despite all pledging their support to Trump.

One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross noted that Trump’s obnoxious racism, xenophobia and misogyny — including most recently attacking a gold star family — is not why top Wisconsin Republicans seem to be desperately searching for something else to do rather than appear today with the presidential nominee they’re supporting in the second largest media market in the state. Rather it is his very public refusal to endorse Republican U.S. Rep Paul Ryan’s re-election scaring them away.

Ross released the following statements about Trump’s appearance in Wisconsin and the Republican elected officials avoiding the event or up in arms over Trump’s non-endorsement of Ryan.

“Gov. Scott Walker and the Republican-controlled legislature have engaged in a five-year, all-out assault on the rights of Wisconsin’s women, minorities, LGBTQ community, voters, student loan borrowers and poor people. Every single one of Donald Trump’s obnoxious, racist, xenophobic and misogynistic comments is reflected in the policies Republicans in Wisconsin have enacted into law.

“Despite all of this, Trump has apparently committed the one sin for a Republican here, criticizing our sacred cow, Paul Ryan.

“It’s not what Trump has said that has state Republican politicians like Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, Gov. Scott Walker and Sen.Ron Johnson up in arms. It’s what he won’t say, that he endorses Paul Ryan, that is causing the GOP such angst.

“Their their crass political expediency and crocodile tears are embarrassing, They’ve time and again been unwilling to stand on principle and disavow Trump for any number of the unconscionable things he has said for the past year.

“Given that any court outside of the Republican-controlled Wisconsin Supreme Court has ruled many of their actions unconstitutional, including their racist attacks on voting rights, the question must be asked of Wisconsin’s elected Republicans: ‘Have you even read the United States Constitution?’”
