Vukmir talks health insurance (at posh country club)

I fully intended on showing up last night at an Oconomowoc country club to hear Leah Vukmir talk about ‘€œcurrent and proposed legislation affecting Wisconsin health care and insurance’€. If not for my squawking eight-month old baby boy, I’€™d have had a listen.

Vukmir, herself a state rep eligible for taxpayer funded health insurance, has made very clear her support for private health insurance industry solutions to the rising costs of private health insurance.

“Solutions that come from the private sector is [sic] the best situation’€¦ Government can help by getting out of the way.”

Yes. Let’€™s let the same industry that effectively denies health care to millions of Americans solve the crisis they created.

However unimpressive her stance on health care and insurance, I was quite impressed, though not surprised, by the Republican Party of Waukesha County’€™s venue of choice for Vukmir’€™s health insurance talk. Surrounded by million-dollar lakefront homes and sitting atop the gorgeous Oconomowoc Lake, the Oconomowoc Lake Club ‘€œfeatures tennis, sailing, boating, gourmet dining, social events and private parties for Club members and guests.’€ I’€™ve taken the effort to look up publicly disclosed property values to give you a sense of the setting in which Vukmir was talkin’€™ health insurance to the folks.

Impressive indeed!
