Working America Hosting Racine Canvass Monday

Working America ‘€“- the AFL-CIO’€™s grassroots organization for workers who don’€™t have unions on the job -‘€” is holding a press briefing and door-to-door canvass Monday in Racine starting at 3:00 p.m. to strengthen the voice of Wisconsin working people.

‘€œWe meet single mothers, seniors, college students, manufacturing and service workers and everyone in between. What we hear over and over again is that people want to be involved. They want to help solve the economic crisis we’€™re facing in Racine, Wisconsin and the nation,’€ said Working America Canvass Director Christina Jens. ‘€œWorking America reaches out to folks who don’€™t have a union on the job, and together, we can take action to make life better for our families.’€

Working America is the fastest growing organization for workers in the country. There are already more than 9,000 Working America members in Racine and Milwaukee counties, and more than 2 million members nationwide. Working America is talking to people in neighborhoods every day about issues important to Wisconsin working families like good jobs, retirement security and health care.

Speaking at the 3:00 press event at Monument Square in downtown Racine and participating in the 4:00 canvass will be Sara Rogers, Executive Vice President of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO, State Sen. John Lehman (D-Racine) and Christine Jens, Working America Canvass Director.
