($)10,000 Reasons Gov. Walker Isn’t Going After Trump
Only State Elected Official in Wisconsin to Get Campaign Money from Trump Sits on Sidelines in GOP Civil War
MADISON, Wis. — Republicans desperately trying to derail their party’s presidential front-runner Donald Trump have seen the state’s leading Republican and failed presidential candidate Gov. Scott Walker sit silently on the sidelines. Gov. Walker is the only state Republican to have received campaign contributions from Trump, a maximum $10,000 contribution, on June 23, 2014.
Documents released in the former “John Doe” criminal investigation of Walker and his top allies, showed Trump was also a top target for Team Walker fundraising for outside groups, particularly fundraising and spending hub Wisconsin Club for Growth, after team Walker’s prodding, put $15,000 in Club’s account, according to filings and media reports at the time.
One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross, released the following statements:
“There are at least 10,000 reasons Scott Walker hasn’t joined his Wisconsin Republican allies in the #NeverTrump civil war. Maybe it’s the ‘yuge’ check Trump gave Scott Walker, or maybe it’s what Trump knows about Scott Walker’s scandalous fundraising operation. But either way, Republicans are waking up to what progressives already know: Scott Walker will always sell you out to the highest bidder.”
