MADISON, Wis. — One Wisconsin Now’s entire staff released the following statements about Sen. Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) announcing she is retiring from elected office after a career on the public dime as a member of both the State Assembly and then State Senate.

“For nearly 25 years, on every single attack on voters rights, women’s rights or equality rights in Wisconsin, Mary Lazich was a reliable reactionary voice to promote intolerance, racist dog-whistling and making women second class citizens in our economy and at the doctor’s office. Having taken well over $1 million in taxpayer-funded salary as a lifelong politician, Mary Lazich can soon enjoy her taxpayer-financed retirement while penning letters to the editor railing against ‘welfare cheats’ and ‘society’s takers.'”
