Bush’s Shameless and Unending Lies on Iraq

Last night in his final State of the Union address, George Bush said this of Iraq:

“When we met last year, many said that containing the violence was impossible. A year later, high profile terrorist attacks are down, civilian deaths are down, sectarian killings are down.”

Delivered on the day when five American soldiers were killed in Mosul, Bush added yet another brick to the limitless monument of delusion, opportunism and failure that is his presidency.

That Bush could make these remarks as we completed the most deadly year for soldiers since his war began nearly five years ago is a testament to depravity of this man and his administration.

3,940 soldiers have perished in Iraq. Eighty-three soldiers from Wisconsin have made the ultimate sacrifice, and all have come after Bush declared “Mission Accomplished.”

His delusional unwillingness to admit error in the face of incontrovertible fact ensures when the history books are written, they will conclude when George Bush punctured the infant lungs of the 21st century, the first casualty was truth.

There is a Constitutional amendment which will end this Administration. Ending this war is up to us.
