Desperate Walker Republicans Roll RoJo Out to Shriek ‘Fraud’
‘Even For Team Walker, This is Low; Walker Should Apologize to Voters’
MADISON, Wis. — One Wisconsin Now is demanding Gov. Scott Walker publicly apologize for the comments of Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson, who claimed at a pro-Walker event in Sheboygan Saturday that “Democrats are doing GOTFV — Get out the fraudulent vote.”
“This despicable lie by Ron Johnson shows the breadth of Republican desperation and the depths to which they will sink,” said One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross. “Gov. Walker should apologize immediately for these remarks and condemn Johnson in the strongest of terms.”
Ross said Johnson’s comments, reported by The Sheboygan Press, were part of a consistent campaign by Republicans to suppress voter turnout through public statements and disenfranchisement legislation. He added, so far, the plan has backfired on Republicans, as early voting has shown wide participation this election.
“Scott Walker and Ron Johnson have united Wisconsin in one regard: People are determined to exercise their right to vote because of the voter rights attacks these Republicans have launched. The irony of course is that it’s Gov. Walker who’s spent every single day of his administration under investigation and he has yet to disclose who are the donors who pay well over half a million dollars to his criminal defense fund,” said Ross.
