If It’s a Day That Ends in ‘Y’ John Humphries Has a Scheme to Take Public School Funding and Give it to Private Voucher Schools
Candidate to Head Department of Public Instruction Continues Shameless Pander For Campaign Cash From Private Voucher School Industry
MADISON, Wis. — John Humphries, candidate for State Superintendent of Public Instruction, today announced another version of what appears to be the core principle of his campaign: advancing his political ambitions by pandering to the private school voucher industry.
In his chase for campaign cash Humphries has been outspoken in his support for Michigan billionaire Betsy DeVos, Donald Trump’s manifestly unqualified nominee for Secretary of Education. Prior to her nomination, DeVos helped fund and run the American Federation for Children (AFC), a special interest group that supports taking funds from public education to support less accountable private voucher schools. In Wisconsin, AFC has spent over $5 million to help their favored politicians.
The following are the statements of One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross:
“If it’s a day that ends in ‘y’ you can bet John Humphries has scheme to help promote the political ambitions of John Humphries.
“So it’s no surprise that today we see another version of the same old plan to take more of our public tax dollars and send them to less accountable private schools.
“Not because the results for students are any better, but because he wants the money of the private voucher school industry for his campaign.”
