One Wisconsin Now Statements on Appointment of Rep. John Nygren as Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Finance
MADISON, Wis. — One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross released the following statements regarding the appointment of Republican Representative John Nygren as Assembly Co-chair of the Joint Committee on Finance:
“Rep. John Nygren’s appointment as Assembly Co-Chair is a sure sign that special interests can expect business as usual under the new Assembly Republican majority.”
“We all remember that insurance agent Nygren helped to kick off the 2011 legislative session by introducing insurance industry supported legislation to gut Wisconsin’s mandatory auto insurance law. Now we can look forward to him bringing the same attitude to the 2013 legislative session as Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Finance.”
“I’m sure big special interests and others, like the unaccountable Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, are breathing a sigh of relief. Now that John Nygren is in charge, they can continue to have free rein to loot the state treasury at the expense of middle class and working families.”
“And of course, we’ll all be watching to see if the man who turned in 399 signatures to get on the ballot when 400 were required has improved his math skills now that he’ll be responsible for helping write a $60 billion plus state budget.”
