One Wisconsin Now Statements on Wisconsin State Legislative News
Which Rights Will the Incoming State Republican Legislative Majority Go After First?
MADISON, Wis. — One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross released the following statements on the latest state legislative news and the continuing assault by legislative Republicans on the rights of the people of Wisconsin:
“Which rights will the incoming state Republican legislative majority go after first – the right to vote, the rights of women to make their own health care decisions or the remaining rights of workers?
“Key Republican members of the legislature have endorsed a radical change to the state constitution that gives embryos the same rights as human beings. Other leading Republicans are blaming their statewide electoral losses on too many voters voting. And both the presumtive Republican Speaker of the Assembly and Gov. Walker support so-called ‘right to work for less’ legislation.”
“The question is not whether Republicans will continue their assault on voting, reproductive and workplace rights in Wisconsin, but will there be enough legislators with the courage to stand with the people of Wisconsin and against the Governor and GOP party bosses to stop them?”
