One Wisconsin Now Says: “Don’t Be a Scrooge!”

Celebrate the Holidays With Fellow Progressives and Show Gov. Walker the True Spirit of the Holidays With a Toy Donation

MADISON, Wis. — In the wake of Gov. Walker’s recent, controversial campaign e-mail encouraging contributions to him instead of buying holiday presents for children, One Wisconsin Now is offering a special deal for tickets to its progressive holiday party and 8th anniversary celebration in Madison, December 16. Attendees who bring a new, unopened toy to donate will receive $10 off the regular $25 admission ticket to the event, which will feature special guest, U.S. Representative Mark Pocan.

Ross said, “Unlike Gov. Walker, whose idea of a holiday gift for kids is a campaign contribution to him, we want to see all the good boys and girls in Wisconsin get real presents. So we’re asking our fellow progressive merrymakers to chip in and donate a toy to help make the holiday season a happy one for kids in need.”

The One Wisconsin Now 8th Anniversary and Progressive Holiday Party will feature special guest U.S. Representative Mark Pocan and will be held on December 16th from 5:30p to 7:30p at the Majestic Theater at 115 King Street in Madison.

Admission is a $25 donation, or just $15 with an unopened, unwrapped toy. Information on tickets and event details can be found here: http://on.fb.me/1juUxLh

All toys donated in conjunction with the event will be passed along to Madison area organizations organizing toy drives for children this holiday season.

Previously, One Wisconsin Now organized an alternative inaugural ball after it was revealed Gov. Walker would break with previous tradition for his own inauguration and keep any excess funds raised for his campaign and the state Republican Party, instead of donating them to charity. The One Wisconsin Now alternative event raised nearly $4,000 for the Wisconsin efforts of Feeding America.

“It’s no surprise that a career politician like Gov. Walker views holidays and celebrations as just another opportunity to grab campaign cash for himself. So it’s up to Wisconsin progressives to show him the true meaning of the holidays,” concluded Ross.
