Progressive Change Dwarfs Conservative Status Quo
The Wisconsin Primary was as exciting as the results were telling. Given the numbers, Wisconsinites are not just ready for change, but they are ready for a clearly progressive change. Yesterday, more than one million people braved the cold to vote for candidates promising progressive policy from universal health care and poverty solutions to education and an end to the Iraq War. In contrast, conservative candidates could barely garner 400,000 votes.
In a season where the public is demanding change, conservatives are offering more of the same. The same failed Bush policies and an unacceptable status quo. America is headed in a new and exciting direction. They are rejecting the conservative messages of ‘more wars,’ more tax cuts for the rich, and more extreme social policies. If the numbers in Wisconsin are any indication, not only do people want change, but they want progressive change and new solutions.
