Tony Evers Election Shows Strong Support for Wisconsin Public Schools
Public Education Champion Bests Advocate for Less Accountable Private Schools
MADISON, Wis. — The following are the statements of One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross regarding the re-election of Tony Evers as State Superintendent of Public Instruction:
“Tonight’s election results are yet another sign of how strongly people across our state support their public schools.
“Tony Evers is a champion for public education and he won overwhelmingly against an opponent whose campaign centered on sending more of our public tax dollars to less accountable private voucher schools.
“The results tonight are also a powerful rebuke and warning to those who continue to attack our public schools with funding cuts, who propose to divert public resources to less accountable private voucher schools and who want to attack the communities who support their public schools with punitive and retaliatory measures.”
