Two Peas in a Pod? Scary Thought
Earlier this week Congressman F. Jim Sensenbrenner endorsed Michael Gableman in his quest for the states high court. Given the two men’s partisanship, the endorsement is certainly no surprise. It does, however, make one wonder if Gableman shares the same extreme Sensenbrenner positions on the law, civil rights and issues in general.
Here is a very small list of Sensenbrenner’s more extreme positions:

It does, however, make one wonder if Gableman shares the same extreme Sensenbrenner positions on the law, civil rights and issues in general.
Here is a very small list of Sensenbrenner’s more extreme positions:
- He was a key sponsor on the Patriot Act which gives the government broad powers to spy on American citizens. Although it was intended to stop terrorists, he believes its power should be used on the most routine cases.
- He supports tightly restricting stem cell research.
- He even thought it was appropriate for the heavy hand of the government to intrude on a family tragedy in the Terri Schiavo matter.
It has been scary to watch Sensenbrenner try and chip away at our most basic rights, in his typical mean spirited fashion. If Gableman actually passes muster with him, one must wonder which civil rights that he thinks are expendable. Does this endorsement mean that Sensenbrenner and Gableman are two peas in a pod on the law and our rights? I don’t know, but it is a very scary thought.
