Wisconsin Minimum Wage, Maximum Student Debt Tour Counters Walker Bus Stops
Veteran, UW Student Will Offer Response to Walker on Minimum Wage, Student Loan Debt, Divisive Campaign
MADISON, Wis. — U.S. Army Veteran and University of Wisconsin-Waukesha student Saul Newton will counter Gov. Scott Walker’s bus tour today with his own “Wisconsin Minimum Wage, Maximum Student Debt Tour.” In contrast to Walker’s lavish campaign bus and hefty $650,000 contribution from out-of-state billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, Newton will meet the Walker bus in a 2011 Jeep Liberty he borrowed from his girlfriend.
To arrange an interview with Saul, who will be on-site at Walker events, please contact One Wisconsin Now at (608) 204-0677.
Newton will appear at the Walker campaign events in West Salem, Eau Claire and Hudson.
Newton is available to provide an on-camera response to Walker’s comments that the minimum wage does not “serve[s] a purpose,” his refusal to support state student loan reform that could help many of the state’s 800,000-plus student loan borrowers refinance their loans at lower market interest rates, and the governor’s polarizing politics that have torn the state apart over the last four years.
