A judicious decision

From WisPolitics:

Marquette University law professor Rick Esenberg has decided not to jump into this spring’s state Supreme Court race.

Esenberg, who also writes the blog “Shark and Shepherd,” said he was approached about a run but decided against it.

Jefferson County Judge Randy Koschnick is the only candidate to announce that he will challenge Supreme Court Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson this spring.

Perhaps someone told Esenberg, a Federalist Society member who helped elect the last two right-wing, ethically challenged ideologues/political hacks to the court, that it’s a good idea to be a judge of some kind, at least for a little while, before you run for the state’s highest court. Even the unjudicious Rick Gableman could sit on the bench and wear a robe in his commercials.

To my knowledge, no one had asked him to run and there were no rumors about his candidacy, so it’s hard to know what compelled him to announce he wasn’t running.

But just for the record, I’m not, either.
