One Wisconsin Now Statements on Sen. Ron Johnson’s Failed Filibuster Attempt on Common Sense Gun Legislation

Filibuster Fails Bipartisan 68-31 Vote

MADISON, Wis. — One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross released the following statements following the vote in the U.S. Senate against U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson’s filibuster attempt on legislation aimed to reduce gun violence in the America.

“Sen. Ron Johnson’s failed effort to filibuster common sense gun safety legislation shows he is so out of touch with Wisconsin, we wonder if he can find the Badger State on a map,” said Ross. “We are outraged by Sen. Ron Johnson’s vote and we applaud Sen. Tammy Baldwin’s vote to allow a full debate and discussion about the crisis of gun violence.”

Since 2004 in Wisconsin, 34 individuals have lost their lives in mass gun violence incidents, including recent events in a temple in Oak Creek and a day spa in Brookfield.

One Wisconsin Now penned a letter to Sen. Johnson, requesting he drop his planned filibuster. That letter is available here: http://www.onewisconsinnow.org/files/ROJO%20Gun%20Letter.pdf.
