MADISON, Wis. — One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross released the following statements regarding reports that Gov. Walker will announce he will reject an expansion of federal Medicaid coverage in Wisconsin and a radical roll back of state health insurance assistance at the state big business lobby day:
“As Gov. Walker seeks to pass another Tea Party litmus test, it is, once again, the people of Wisconsin paying the price as he builds his 2016 Republican Presidential primary campaign on the backs of the working poor.
“At the state’s big business special interest lobby day, Gov. Walker today announced he wants to slash state health care help for tens of thousands of working Wisconsinites. In Walker’s Wisconsin, a widow making as little as $11,501 a year could lose her health care as big corporations and the wealthy are larded with more tax breaks.
“Putting his own political self interest and the regressive agenda of the big corporations and ultra-wealthy right-wing ideologues that underwrite his campaign first, Gov. Walker is proposing even more of the same failed trickle-down economic policies that have left us among the worst in the nation in job creation.”
