Unrepentant Feehan Doubles Down on Domestic Abuse Revelations

Former LaCrosse GOP Party Chair and Political Candidate Eschews Apology for Fundraising Appeal

MADISON, Wis. — In response to a newspaper report that he was arrested and reached a plea deal with prosecutors in connection with a domestic abuse incident involving a girlfriend, former LaCrosse County GOP chair and political candidate Bill Feehan has … produced a YouTube video asking for money?

One Wisconsin Now Executive Director Scot Ross commented, “When questioned by a reporter, Mr. Feehan chose not to apologize for allegedly choking his girlfriend and throwing her to the ground after a day of drinking, or to express remorse for behaving in a belligerent manner when questioned by the police. No, Mr. Feehan has instead taken to the internet with a fundraising appeal.”

Feehan’s video soliciting campaign contributions to “defend” him from revelations he reached a plea agreement in a domestic abuse incident can be seen here.

The issue of violence against women has been much discussed in recent days after Missouri Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin’s outrageous and controversial comments about rape. While top Wisconsin Republicans have called for Akin to drop out of the U.S. Senate race, Republican Party bosses in Madison dispatched a spokesperson to defend Feehan.

“If Wisconsin Republicans are sincere in their condemnation of Rep. Akin’s comments and violence against women, they’d denounce Mr. Feehan for both his alleged past abuse of a girlfriend and his sleazy fundraising tactics,” concluded Ross.
